A Warm Congratulation to Translator Lars Moa
It is with great pleasure and pride that we congratulate Norwegian translator Lars Moa who has been awarded the "Karel Čapek Medal" for translation from a language of limited diffusion, for his outstanding work in promoting Faroese literature in Norway. Lars Moa has dedicated a significant part of his professional life to literary translations from Faroese to Nynorsk, a minor Norwegian language. He has translated major titles from Faroese literature and is one of the key promoters of Faroese culture, particularly in Norway. He is a critically acclaimed translator. His translations are of the highest quality, and he has won several awards for them. His translation of a major novel by the prominent contemporary Faroese writer Carl Jóhan Jensen, Ó – Søgur um djevulskap, was hailed by Norwegian literary critics as “a translation achievement”, “a great work” and “a powerful and darkly musical translation”.
