New crime novel from Jógvan Isaksen
Jógvan Isaksen was awarded the 2024 Petrona Award for Best Scandinavian Crime Novel in November for Dead Men Dancing. Now readers can look forward to reading Isaksen’s newly published Altartalvan (in English The Altarpiece), which is the latest in the crime series following journalist and investigator Hannis Martinsson.
“The Last Supper” from 1647 disappears from Tórshavn Cathedral, with only the frame remaining hanging. The mysterious initials IHS are carved onto the frame, which may originate from a Jesuitical visit in the 17th century. The plot thickens when the Danish director of the National Gallery is discovered crucified at the cathedral. Martinsson sets out to uncover the truth behind the mysterious and brutal crime alongside his trusted companions Edmund West and Haraldur í Sátudali.
The novel is published by Marselius Forlag.
