Sólrún Michelsen’s 2013 novel Hinumegin er mars is now available in Greek. World Books has published Στην απέναντι όχθη είναι Μάρτης, which was translated to Greek by Konstantina Stassinou via the English translation On the Other Side is March (Francis Boutle Publishers 2023), translated from Faroese by Marita Thomsen.

The book is a poetic account of getting older and dementia. The protagonist is a woman in her sixties visiting her mother, as she recedes into memories lost and found.

The book is a fictionalised memoir flitting between dialogue, flashbacks and ruminations, interwoven with snippets of hymns, many in Danish, Faroese medieval ballads and folk songs. The novel is also a universal narrative of the lives of women with many beautiful and wise gems all throughout the text.

Hinumegin er mars has now been published in Faroese, Danish, Norwegian, English, Amharic and Greek.
